Tickets for Mexico City 2017 World Championships go on sale

Tickets for the Mexico City 2017 World Para Powerlifting and Para Swimming Championships have gone on sale with less than a month to go until the competition starts on 2 December.

Around 1,200 athletes, officials and staff from 89 countries plus the Independent Paralympic Athletes’ Team will compete across both sports, with the swimming and powerlifting events running until 7 and 8 December, respectively.

The Francisco Marquez Olympic Swimming Pool and the adjacent Juan de la Barrera Gymnasium will stage the competitions, in the biggest Para sport event to be held in Mexico City.

A total of 24,500 tickets will be for sale and will cost MXN 100 (around USD 5.50) for each day, including the powerlifting competition and swimming morning and evening sessions.

Tickets can be purchased from anywhere in the world on Super Boletos’ website: http://web.superboletos.com:8001/SuperBoletos/CDMXYEDOMEX/DEPORTIVO/CAMPEONATO-MUNDIAL-DE-PARA-POWERLIFTING-Y-PARA-NATACION-CIUDAD-DE-MEXICO-/gkNYkVHxUKg1xbuISbOcjQ

Mexican residents can also get theirs at different ticket counters such as Tiendas Innova Sport, Palacio de Hierro, Farmacias del Ahorro and Soriana. They will also be sold on-site during the event.

For both sports, it is the first major event since the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games and the start of a new Paralympic cycle for Tokyo 2020.

The Worlds were due to take place between 30 September and 6 October, but were postponed following the devastating earthquake that hit Mexico City on 19 September.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and Agitos Foundation launched a global fundraising campaign to support UNICEF’s humanitarian efforts in Mexico. Over USD 40,000 has been raised: https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/team/fuerzamexico-paralympic-movement-support/agitos
