2015 IPC Para-Snowboard World Championships to be streamed live

IPC Alpine Skiing and Para-Snowboard has announced that the 2015 IPC Para-Snowboard World Championships in La Molina, Spain, will be streamed live between 23-28 February.

Fans can catch the action at www.ParalympicSport.TV whilst viewers in the USA can watch via www.teamusa.org/US-Paralympics.

The competition features the new format of snowboard-cross head-to-head which made a hugely successful debut at a World Cup in January, and the new discipline of banked slalom, which also joined the programme in 2014-15.

Craig Spence, IPC Director of Media and Communications said: "Since para-snowboard became a Paralympic sport at Sochi 2014, it has come on leaps and bounds to become even more attractive to spectators, fans and the media.

"By adding new disciplines and fresh formats, as well as separating the classifications into two for lower-limb impaired riders, it is now even more of a compelling watch.

"I would encourage everyone to take a look at the raft of new athletes, as well as the more established riders, who will be lining up at La Molina 2015."

In addition to Paralympic champions, the USA's Evan Strong and the Netherlands' Bibian Mentel-Spee, new faces have come to the fore at World and Europa Cups in 2014-15 and will compete at La Molina 2015.

Strong's teammate Mike Schultz, who competes in the men's SB-LL1, has won banked slalom and snowboard-cross World Cups in his first competitive season.

Great Britain's Ben Moore enjoyed the new format for head-to-head, maintaining a 100 per cent record in the men's upper-limb impairment races.

Australia's Joany Badenhorst, determined to make a comeback after an accident ruled her out of contention at Sochi 2014, has also made it onto the podium for the first time in the women's SB-LL2 events.

La Molina 2015 will feature over 40 athletes from nearly 20 countries in the biggest gathering of para-snowboarders since Sochi 2014.

Competition begins on 24 February with snowboard-cross and continues on 28 February with banked slalom.
